South West Bar 2007

Hi South West cyclists,

During the winter, in conjunction with Ken Robertson, I've been putting together a new and exciting BAR competition for ALL South West riders that will cost riders and clubs absolutely nothing and riders don't have to register for it. The Mid-Devon CC Committee as the club that “has sponsored” the competition and has done so for the last 40 plus years has accepted the revised conditions.

There will be trophies and/or certificates for the following categories.
· Ladies
· Juveniles/juniors
· Seniors
· Vets actual
· Vets on CTT TARGET times
· Teams for senior, ladies and juniors/juveniles.

Senior and Vet Riders will ride.
· 3 out of 5 designated sporting tt
· 3 out of 5 designated 10 mile tt
· 3 out of 5 designated 25 mile tt
· 2 out of 3 of the two open 50's and/or the open 100. This means you DON'T have to ride a hundred to qualify
(If for any reason you fail to complete 3 of the events, you can still qualify with 1 or 2 but obviously with less qualifying points)
NOTE (ladies and juniors/juveniles do not include the 50's or the 100)

Rather than work it out on average mph when a float day can make it unfair, it will be worked out on a points basis for placings.
Courses have been selects from all over Devon and Cornwall to make it fairer to all riders travelling.
Additionally events have been chosen, where possible, that don't clash with road races to give all riders a chance of qualifying.
Apologies if your club’s event hasn't been chosen. An attempt will be made to include one of your club’s events next year.
Attached is a full list of conditions for the competition. They will also be posted on the CS Dynamo website. If your club’s web master could also put details on your club’s website it would be really helpful. Similarly as updates are given on the standings they should be posted up.
You don't need to register for the competition, but I will need to know the ages of the vets who will qualify for the CTT target times.
I hope you will all take part in this new and exciting competition. Please encourage riders of all abilities to take part, as the team prizes will probably go to the teams that ride most events rather than the team with the fastest riders!!!!
To avoid any confusion this is an additional competition to the current South West District Championships hosted by the District Committee at 10,25 and 50 miles.

As this is the first year of a new system any feedback is welcome. Make it to, Ken Robertson and myself

Yours in sport
